昨天晚上幾個同事陪老闆與從 John Hopkins 來客座演講的 Thierry Huisman 教授到希臘餐廳用餐。
餐前閒聊 Dr. Huisman 突然轉頭問我，
「你來多久了？」
「ㄜ ......我剛來四個月」
他接下來突然問了句
「So are you part of the furniture now? 」
（心中出現黑人問號: Whaaaat ??? ）
他看我不回答，又重複問了一次
（這時腦中不停盤算，到底他指的是什麼意思）
還好旁邊的同事趕緊跳出來解圍 😓
「Yes, he is part of the furniture now」
後來趕緊上網查字典，應該是指我已經融入大家的意思吧
" If you describe someone or something as part of the furniture, you are suggesting that they have been somewhere such as their place of work for such a long time that it is hard to imagine that place without them."
